I am trying to configure a Farm with two machines. Version of FFASTRANS is 1.3.1. Not sure if that is the issue and I need to use a newer version.
1st machine has the application running as a service. I made the folder where the FFAStrans.exe file is located, shared on the network. I would open the FFAStrans.exe file on the 2nd machine, but it fails to start the the FFAStrans service. The same user is used on both machines and is admin user.
Attached is a screenshot of the error message when trying to start the service on the 2nd machine.

Re: Setting up a farm.
Did you open the executable from the same network path?
I always suggest running from the actual UNC path like \\whatever\FFAStrans.exe
Anyway, once you opened the Workflow Manager, can you check what it says at the bottom?
If it says "Running as application" then it means that it's actually running from the .exe itself.
When that happens, you can't start the rest_service because it's already running as an application, so you have to go to the options and untick the "run as application" and then you're gonna be able to start the rest_service.

Re: Setting up a farm.
Thank you very much for the reply.
Yes, I would run the FFAStrans.exe on Server 2 from the UNC path of Server 1, which is a shared folder.
I followed your instructions and see the following:
Server 1 (Master): Local processing: Active as application | Local web service: Running as application
Server 2: Local processing: Not active | Local web service: Not active
I've attached the screenshots for you to review and confirm that this is the correct setting.
Also, on Server 2, I ran the rest_service from the shared folder on Server 1. Is that the correct method here?

Re: Setting up a farm.
Hello Gluponja22 ,
So To install a fram you have several things to do :
- First, install FFAStrans on your machine 1 (master). Share your FFAStrans installation dorectory (for machine 2)
- Install the service if you want on this machine 1
- Take care of the messgae when you finished your service installation, it means you should enter credentials to be sure to have full rights for this service. Go to windows service (windows key + R then enter services.msc). right-clic on ffastrans service and connect tab. Enter your credentials for admin account, the service should be started).
- Machine 2, start FFAStrans from shared folder.
- configuration and install as windows service.
- Do the same thing as machine 1 for teh ffastrans windows service (credentials).
You should be good. To be sure you have 2 hosts for your installation, you can go to the FFAStrans installation directory, then Processors, db, config and hosts : you should have your 2 hosts names here.
Hope it helps.
Cheers.
