Offering up some short test files

Somewhere I saw a post about eventually having a library of short test files. I have some that I use that may be of use - not sure how "technically" wonderful they are, but I generally just use them for baselines and processing/timing checks.

The video is a test pattern with a running timecode with whitenoise audio.

Hi gdpodesta,

Nice initiative! It's always nice to have some test files and there's a lot of them around.
However, too many of them have too much compression and too few chroma samples. If were to host test files we would like higher quality. Test files are usually created using a high quality coder, or sometimes uncompressed. These are the preferred files but they are rather large, and currently ffastrans.com don't have that kind of storage service. So until we do you must use other means of sharing test files. Or if quality is not of essence one can always use youtube like many others do.

Fair enough, I just used them for processing tests, and time-specific tests, so the Video quality is of no concern, its the timing of the process and how the video duration factors into my life,lol. Anyways, if they're of no use, you can just delete the post altogether and I don't have to worry about where the files need to live. Thanks :)

No need to delete the post :-) It's just that we, the FFAStrans team prefer higher quality test files because video quality is of great concern to us. FFAStrans ability to convert files as close to the original as possible is important, and to measure that we need high quality files. One can always create low quality test files from high quality, but you can't go the other way around.
