DVD processor

Post by Ghtais »

Hi

it seems that there is a bug on the DVD processor concerning the Bitrate. I ask for 8000 kb/s and it gives me 2000 kb/s.
Perhaps I forget something, I don't know.

FFAStran Version 0.9.4.0
Workflow manager 0.9.4.59
workflow processor 0.9.4.35

Best regards

Hi,

Ok I checked and I don't notice any problem. The DVD bitrate is variable so depends on your video file. I had got 4000 kb/s and another 3000.
By the way, if you stay on bitrate window in encoder dvd settings, you will see 3000-9800 (kb/s).
Check and tell us.

Cheers.

Hi,

Ok for the variable bitrate but, I understand that the bitrate setting is the target bitrate. If I set 8000 kb/s I don't expect that the bitrate going to 2000.
For example, if I want to make the best quality DVD with a 15 min file. I set the bitrate to 8000 kbits, It gives me a 180Mo file with a 2300 kb/s rate. DVD is above 4 Go, it's shame to put a 180 Mo file on it with a such available space.

cheers

Ok I see. You're right it will be useful to set constant or variable bitrate.
Anyway, Steinar is already on this :)

Cheers.

I have addressed the issue and the next bugfix version will have more consistent rates closer to the target, though not 100%. That's very difficult with one-pass encoding on DVD.
